Robert F. Kennedy Jr., known as a resolute defender of the environment, is speaking on “Our Environmental Destiny” on Oct. 2 as part of Xavier’s annual Ethics/Religion and Society Lecture Series. Kennedy will appear at 7:00 p.m. in the James and Caroline Duff Banquet Center at the Cintas Center.
Kennedy’s reputation as an environmentalist stems from a litany of successful legal actions. He was named one of Time magazine’s “Heroes for the Planet” for his success in helping the group Riverkeeper lead the fight to restore the Hudson River. The group’s achievement helped spawn more than 160 Waterkeeper organizations worldwide.
Kennedy serves as senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council, chief prosecuting attorney for the Hudson Riverkeeper and president of Waterkeeper Alliance.
