Relaying for Life

Relaying for Life

Former University President James E. Hoff, S.J., who died of cancer in July, is still helping give life. Hoff is the focus of a special luminary ceremony in April during the University’s third annual Relay for Life event in which students raise money for the American Cancer Society.

The relay involves teams that camp on the residential mall outside the Gallagher Student Center while at least one person per team walks a route around campus in an effort to raise money. In 2003, the event raised $28,000, and in 2004 it raised $22,000.
