It was all for one and one for all at Family Weekend in October, when the annual Musketeer Madness athletics celebration was held for the first time during the parents’ and siblings’ annual visit to campus. Students and their families joined the madness Saturday night as the women’s and men’s basketball teams rallied Musketeer pep at the Cintas Center arena. Sponsored by Skyline Chili, the event treated cheering fans to introductions of the players, a preseason scrimmage and a halftime show. “We combined two great events so parents could come in and participate,” says Dianne Fisk, director for parent and constituent relations. “This is a great opportunity for parents to see more Xavier athletics since most of the time they don’t even get to come and see a game.”
Of course, the celebration was just one part of the special weekend, which offered family members a variety of ways to share in life on campus. Events included Xavier Players’ performances of August Wilson’s “Fences,” an art exhibit of student work, a festival for siblings, a bus tour of Cincinnati and a Mass led by University President Michael J. Graham, S.J.
