Peter-Hans Kolvenbach, S.J., superior general of the Society of Jesus, is the featured speaker at this year’s Academic Day on Oct. 3. The visit, in honor of the University’s 175th anniversary, marks the superior general’s second visit to campus. Kolvenbach spent two days at Xavier in May 1996 while touring the Jesuits’ Chicago province.
“We’re very honored that, with all of his commitments, he was willing and able to be here in conjunction with our 175th anniversary,” says Leo Klein, S.J., vice president for mission and ministry. “He’s going to give a talk in the late afternoon on the service of faith in a religiously pluralistic world, and then in the evening he’ll be joined by a delegation from St. Xavier High School and will make remarks after dinner to a University audience.” His evening talk is by invitation only.
