Like a good neighbor, Brett Palmer was exactly what State Farm Insurance had in mind. The insurance company featured the 1996 graduate and his infant daughter, Libby, in a series of national advertisements over the winter in Martha Stewart Living, Parenting, Woman’s Day, TV Guide and other magazines.
Palmer is a financial agent with the company and was selected in part because he represents some of the lesser-known services State Farm offers. He lives in southern Indiana with his wife, Missy, who’s a 1996 Xavier graduate. He admits he was taken aback the first time he saw his mug in a magazine.
“It was really strange,” he says. “You see ads all the time and you think they’re models or actors, but a lot of them are regular people.”
Unexpectedly, Libby was also used in the television commercial, which featured a different family. She was so cute, he says, they decided to find a spot for her in that ad, too.
