Rose Marie Wetterau has a unique perspective on Xavier. In fact, she has many of them: as a 1982 graduating senior, as a member of the first psychology doctorate class of 2001, as an adjunct professor, as a parent of a new Xavier student. And earlier this year, she gained another perspective when she was hired as staff psychologist at the McGrath Health and Counseling Center, making her the first Xavier Psy.D. graduate to be hired by the University.
Her experience as a student and parent of three teenage girls also gives her some insights into the problems students bring to college. “University counseling is my first love,” she says. So when the opportunity arose, she grabbed it. “We know she’s very well trained,” says department of psychology chair Christine Dacey. “Our own college students are in very good hands.”
