“We’re trying to foster Xavier alumni doing business with other Xavier alumni, or Xavier alumni hiring other Xavier alumni,” says Mike Crane, the 1987 alumnus who came up with the idea for the network. “It’s an opportunity for people who are looking for a job, or to expand their business, or to make more contacts out there.”
The group meets the first Friday of each month on campus from 8:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m. Each meeting opens with alumni explaining who they are and why they are there. A 15-minute program on a topic of general interest follows. Past topics have included starting yor own business and a review of Xavier’s career services for alumni.
With the first four months of networking efforts yielding turnouts of between 40 and 45 alumni at each meeting, the network is already up and running—and growing.
